My Journey as a UI/UX Design Intern at Giza Lab
During my internship at Giza Lab from February to June 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to dive deep into the world of UI/UX design under the guidance of professional mentors.
What I Learned
The internship covered a comprehensive curriculum from foundational UX research methodologies to advanced prototyping techniques in Figma. Some key highlights:
Conducted user research using persona mapping, empathy maps, and Customer Journey Maps (CJM)
Applied design thinking methodologies in real-world project scenarios
Performed heuristic evaluations to identify usability issues
Built a complete design system from scratch, including local and global components
Key Takeaways
The most valuable lesson I took away was understanding that great design is fundamentally about empathy. Every design decision must be rooted in a deep understanding of the user's needs, pain points, and mental models.
Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works. — Steve Jobs
I'm grateful for the experience at Giza Lab and how it shaped my perspective on digital product development.
